Lumineers – Los Angeles

Lumineers & Veneers in Inglewood

A different type of veneer, called Lumineers, is a brand of veneer only offered by dentists and manufactured by DenMat dental laboratory.

Lumineers are thinner, less expensive, and quicker to apply. Lumineers offer reversible solutions to many types of problems, gaps, permanently stained, chipped. They can even help straighten crooked teeth on our great alternative for braces. Lumineers can also restore old crown and bridges work and help correct uneven and misaligned teeth. Lumineers also an excellent solution for many adolescent patients.

How Lumineers Can Improve Your Smile

When you’ve got gaps between the teeth or have teeth that are badly stained or damaged, it affects the appearance of your smile and your confidence as well. While you may have heard of dental veneers for the cosmetic repair of damaged teeth, there’s also another option that’s even more modern.

These are called lumineers. Lumineers, like dental veneers, are made of porcelain (usually Cerinate, which is durable, stain-resistant porcelain), but they are thinner than veneers and can still be matched to the color of your teeth. They can give you a brighter, more attractive smile in a very short time, using a non-invasive and painless procedure at your dentist’s office.

Why Lumineers Are Used

Like dental veneers, lumineers are used to repair and improve the appearance of teeth that are badly stained by years of drinking coffee, tea or red wine, or to cover or fill in teeth that are chipped, broken, or that have gaps between them. Lumineers can also be used to even out the appearance of teeth that are pointed or unusually shaped, as well as those that are simply too small.

Once they’re applied, they are easy to care for and will not disrupt your regular dental hygiene routine. However, if you grind your teeth at night, you may need to use a mouthguard while you sleep in order to keep from damaging the lumineers as well as your other untreated teeth. Lumineers can be applied in only two dental visits and then will last up to twenty years with proper care.

Difference Between Lumineers and Veneers

While dental veneers and lumineers are similar, there are some important differences between them. First of all, lumineers are much thinner than veneers and have the approximate thickness of a contact lens. However, they are still as durable as full veneers. One great advantage of lumineers is that before applying them, it is not necessary to remove tooth enamel and thin the tooth.

For veneers, the teeth are prepped by grinding them down so that they’re thinner. This also means that, if it should ever become necessary, lumineers can be removed without damaging the teeth. Two visits to the dentist’s office are still needed, however, because a mold of the teeth is still taken before the lumineers can be made and then applied.

When to Choose Lumineers

Lumineers are a great choice for repairing damaged or stain teeth when the damage is not so severe that the most opaque veneer option is needed. They are also great for those who want a less permanent and irreversible choice since they can be removed without damaging the teeth. Lumineers are slightly cheaper than veneers but can last just as long.

The application procedure requires no anesthesia and no preparation or grinding of the patient’s natural teeth is required. There is also no need to wear a temporary veneer while the lumineers are being made in the dental lab. If you want to improve the appearance of your smile without extensive dental preparation or altering of your natural teeth, lumineers are probably an excellent choice for you.
